Mom's thoughts on the Manor

Hi,

It was a highlight in my life to spend the weekend with all of you. You are truly some of my favorite people and how awesome was it to see you and celebrate Peter and Chandy’s wedding.

The journey to Grandview Manor was quite a “trip” in itself. The directions weren’t the best (sorry about that), signage was sometimes difficult to understand, some of you had to travel in the dark and so you couldn’t see the “flip flops” marking the way, some got temporarily lost; the entrance to Grandview Manor next to the corn field was pretty crazy in itself – the small gravel road and you couldn’t even see your destination… it seemed like a long trip. But once you arrived at Grandview Manor it was a beautiful, peaceful setting; a haven from the world. And there we were able to enjoy each other’s company and be together as friends and family.

I liken this to our journey in life. There are times when you wonder why there are not better directions (especially as a parent), sometimes we struggle in deciphering what we are to do in life, we travel through darkness through our trials sometimes we take the wrong turn, and, wow, is life sometimes rough like the gravel road, and we can’t always see what’s around the bend. But our destination to return to Heavenly Father is the end of our earthly journey. And when you reach this end we will rejoice when we are united with our loved ones and rejoice when we are with our brother, Jesus.

I hope that you remember how much you are loved by everyone at the wedding celebration and that we believe in you. How individually you can find your way in life; but how collectively the journey is sweeter. And at the end of this early journey, we need to all be accounted for; that not one of us gets lost along the way.

I’m grateful for your association with Peter, my kids and thus me. I’m grateful that you are all examples of unconditional love, dedication to the gospel, and examples to each other.

Our family mission statement applies to all of you (Sherman wrote it):

A close group of pre-mortal friends

Who have come to this earth to sojourn together.

Loving, caring, supporting and teaching each other.

They will make it back to their Father in Heaven together.

May they never forget the commitment they made

before this life began.

Thanks for making the journey in this life sweet…

Love.pam (mom to a lot of you)

Oh, after it was all said and done and everyone left I was out taking pictures of the sunset and a rainbow appeared (attached). Rainbows are a reminder that Heavenly Father is near…
